From 2–10 October 2027, golf clubs around the world are invited to recognise the generations of women who have played, competed, organised, volunteered and built communities around the game.
There is no single way to take part.
Every club has its own history, traditions and community — so create something that works for yours.
Bring generations together
Use the week to connect your club’s past, present and future.
You could:
- Hold a women’s golf event or competition
- Replay an historic competition or format
- Invite past captains, members and volunteers back to the club
- Display photographs, trophies, minute books and memorabilia
- Tell the stories of women who made a difference
- Invite junior girls to play alongside older generations
- Hold a lunch, afternoon tea or evening celebration
- Recognise long-standing members and volunteers
- Share your club’s newly discovered history
- Create something new that future generations can continue
It doesn’t need to be a major event. It simply needs to mean something to your club.

At St Andrews on 5 October 1867, members of the newly formed St Andrews Ladies’ Golf Club played their first recorded medal competition.
160 years later, 5 October 2027 provides a shared moment around which clubs across the world can recognise their own women’s golf stories.
Your event can take place on 5 October or at any point during 2–10 October 2027.
Recognise more than champions
Championships and outstanding players are an important part of golf’s history.
But clubs were also sustained by generations of women whose names may never appear on championship boards.
- The captains.
- The committee members.
- The volunteers.
- The team organisers.
- The women who welcomed new members.
- The friends who kept one another playing.
Recognition gives those contributions a place in the story.
Create something that continues
The 160th anniversary is a moment to look back — but it can also create something for the future.
